Refund policy

  • Cancellations must be made in writing via email.
  • More than 30 days prior to the workshop:
    Refund less $25 deposit
  • 14 to 30 days or less prior to the workshop:
    75% refund
  • 7 to 13 prior to the workshop:
    40% refund
  • Less than 7 days prior to the workshop:
    No refund
  • If sky conditions are predicted to be cloudy the days leading up to the workshop, the workshop will be rescheduled on one of the alternate dates shown above. If none of the dates work out because of sky conditions, a 95% refund will be issued or 100% credit towards a future workshop.
  • Once the workshop starts, refunds cannot be issued. I make every attempt to make sure weather conditions are ideal for Milky Way photography (weather forecasts from several sources, astronomical sky forecasts, live web cams, etc). Conditions can change without warning and in an instant - especially near mountains. If weather conditions change once we are at the shooting venue, you will be given credit towards a future workshop of comparable value.
About the Workshop
This workshop is limited to only one person. Talk about personalized attention!
This is a very special workshop from a very unique location. But there's way more to this workshop than just learning how to photograph the Milky Way. In this workshop I will not only take you to an amazing location, but I will guide you through my entire workflow from in-the-field challenges to post processing in Lightroom and Photoshop.
Click here to see what to expect from this workshop.
NOTE: Certain gear and physical requirements apply. See 'Gear and Physical Requirements' below.
NOTE: Participants will be required to sign a Liability release form.
Why choose this workshop?
  • Unique: Very few workshops offer a complete workflow.
  • Experience: I have been leading Milky Way workshops since 2012.
  • My refund policies that are far less restrictive than others.
  • Limited to just one person so you WILL receive personalized attention.

Gear and Physical Requirements

  • Camera with manual controls
  • Lens(es) in the 15mm to 35mm range with a maximum aperture of f/2.8 or faster
  • Sturdy tripod (travel or small/lightweight tripods will not work well)
  • Sturdy tripod head (ball or pan/tilt)
  • Headlamp (preferable) or flashlight with red light option
  • Remote shutter release
  • Camp chair (as light as possible since yuou will need to carry it to the shooting location)
  • Camera backpack
  • Bug repellant (just in case)
  • Trekking poles for stability on the loose river rocks
  • Lens cloth
  • Sturdy hiking shoes or boots
  • You must be in good physical condition and stable on your feet. The hike is short but requires walking over and through loose river rock and sand.
  • You must be an intermediate to advanced Lightroom user.
  • While Photoshop is not required, it offers many advanced editing capabilities that Lightroom does not offer.

Preparing for the Workshop

  • Know your camera menus. If your camera has a built-in intervalometer, know how to set it up.
  • Know how to access the histogram for an image.
  • Know how to use Manual mode on your camera and set aperture, shutter speed and ISO.
  • Make sure all your gear is working properly.
  • Fully charge your camwera batteries.
  • Make sure your headlamp/flashlight has new batteries installed (or bring spares).
